Welcome.
I am a family therapist working in Lewes and covering the Lewes, Brighton and East Sussex area.
I work with families, couples, children and individuals who are experiencing difficulties in their lives. I use a systemic approach and work mainly with relationships.
Issues I have worked with include:
- managing divorce and separation
- bereavement
- health problems in children and in adults
- behavioural problems in children
- managing stress in the family
- parenting issues with all age groups
- depression in children and adults
- self-harming behaviours
- violence in the family
Family Therapy
Many people in their lives have experiences that can cause great anxiety and stress. Many families manage this themselves. However there may be times people find it helpful to visit a family therapist to explore different solutions to their problems.
Family therapy is based on systems theory, and explores the relationships between people in the context of their family, rather than the internal world of the individual.
There is no right or wrong way of thinking about relationships. Instead the family and therapist work in partnership to find a favourable outcome that fits for the family.
Who am I?
I am an experienced and fully qualified family therapist registered with the UKCP since 1997. I trained both at the Institute of Family Therapy and at Kensington Consultation Centre, completing my training in 1994.
I have practised as a family therapist in a wide variety of settings including private practice, schools and the NHS.
As well as seeing families I also offer supervision and consultation to organisations.
I hold full indemnity insurance and adhere to the ethical standards of practice as established by the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
